I'm an American writer living and working in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York.
I write books, mostly, but other things, too.
On this site, you'll find more information about my books and a little bit about me. I hope you find what you're looking for; if not, please feel free to send me an email. You'll find the link under "Contact."
Thank you for visiting!
What's New?
I'm currently working on several novel manuscripts, a feature-length screenplay, and another little non-fiction ditty. Occasionally, I still write picture books, short stories, or essays. It's all fun!
Stay tuned!
Rest in Peace, Dear Mom
I lost my mother on August 25, 2010. She was a beautiful, reserved Irish-Catholic lady who lived a long and satisfying life. I will miss her. I am still blessed to have my father, who is doing well. My parents were married over 65 years! Heartfelt thanks go to all of our family, friends, and members of Mom and Dad's small community in upstate New York who have been so loving and supportive through this time.
A special public thank you to Mary Ann DiBerardino, R.N., who did things I could not.
How this event will impact my writing is yet to be determined, except that I know that it will enter the work in some special way. Mom had the softest hands of anyone I have ever met. She was very shy and soft-spoken. She cherished her faith, family, and home as well as tending her flowers, crocheting, reading, and feeding and watching backyard birds and wildlife. She taught me many things, but one of these was that those who treasure solitude will never be alone.
Rest in peace, dearest Mom.
Emily Dickinson at Oxford!
In August, 2010, I presented a paper at Oxford University as part of the Emily Dickinson International Society Conference.
The paper was on Emily Dickinson and Emily Bronte and was titled, "'Nature is what We know – But have no Art to say –': Meadows and Moors as Creative Inspiration in Dickinson and the Brontës."
In the paper, I argue that writers not only "study" and write about nature consciously, but their writing may also be affected unconsciously by the natural events/forces that occurred in their youth, etc. Both Dickinson and Bronte experienced nature as children and later in their lives in ways that we can trace through their work now.
It was a pleasure presenting my work at Oxford!
