Summer Travels, 2008

Here are a few pictures from my travels in Summer, 2008. Click on the photo to enlarge it.

This is Emily Dickinson's garden at the side of her home, The Homestead, in Amherst, MA. Isn't it lovely? (8/08).
The top two windows you can see through the trees are the poet, Emily Dickinson's, bedroom windows. She wrote most of her nearly 2000 poems there. (taken 08/08).
Emily Dickinson's brother, Austin, and his wife and children lived next door to her in this house called The Evergreens. (taken 08/08).

This is the birthplace of the American poet, Walt Whitman. It is located in Huntington, Long Island, NY. I like visiting author's houses, if you haven't noticed! ;) (taken 07/08).
This plaque is located in the garden of Walt Whitman's birthplace. It welcomes poets who visit there as writers-in-residence. I found inspiration in the quote during my visit, too! Whitman inspires many writers. (taken 07/08).
Montauk Light, Long Island, in the rain. (taken 07/08).

This is a photo of the American poet, Walt Whitman, that appears on a signboard next to his birthplace on Long Island. (taken 07/08).
I had this salad for lunch outside at a restaurant in Southampton, Long Island--the town where so many celebrities live in "the Hamptons." I thought it was so pretty, I took a picture of it! (taken 07/08).
